Movies with 3 year olds

So, as I sat sewing, trying to finish my quilt for myself, my friends and I watched a movie. If you haven't seen the latest Lindsey Lohan movie "I Know Who Killed Me" then you should rush out and rent it right now. So, we were watching this cinematic beauty with my friend's 3 year old daughter. I was assured it was okay and that she didn't understand so okay, we watched it. The little girl would ask "what's that?" and we would answer "crafts, its paint". "Why she is running?" and our response would be "Her cat got out and she's trying to find it". "why she has blood?" was "She's becoming a woman and got her period. You know how Mommy asks you to get her a tampon? Well, thats what she needs". Basically it was totally hilarious that we turned a horrible movie about stigmatic twins that don't know they're twins into a Disney coming of age tale involving a couple of your girls, their crafts, and their pets. Beautiful.

Blocky quilt for me!

I'm almost done! I quilted it Saturday and added the binding Sunday. I just need to finish the binding now. I have to have it finished to enter into the Bulloch Hall quilt show in Roswell so I'm working hard!

My work in progress, a quilt for ME!!!!!

This is only a quarter, not even, or the quilt i am making for myself. I didn't buy anything new for the top. I've thinned my scrap pile and thinned the pile of "too much fabric". I've also learned to be more careful measuring. Always remember to measure twice cut once. This was started on December 27 and I hope to be done by MLK day. Yes, its a birthday present for him.

NPR fame

Last night I went to my quilt guild to learn about judging techniques on quilt show juried contests. Basically I learned that the judges are sticklers for perfection (which I am not) and that I need to just keep doing what I'm doing and not worry about whether one end is 1/2 of an inch narrower than the other. i have a ton of quilts to work on already:

MINE
Jimmy's daughter's baby quilt
Olivia's awesome bloody quilt
The awesome bear/Fox quilt for Ashley
T-shirt quilt for Jeff

so many more! If you want one, you better say so soon! Prices rise as demand increases. sorry, thats just how it is.
Back on topic, at the quilt guild, there was a reporter from NPR. He sat and recorded a good bit of the meeting and at the end he interviewed three of us! Shannon has been quilting for-EVER and just started her own business of long-arm quilting. In case you don't know, a long arm quilter is a sewing machine on casters that makes it much easier to do amazing design work with the quilting (which holds the three layers of a quilt together). Last year a quilt she quilter won the East Cobb best of Show which is AWESOME!
Next, they interviewed me. I hope i used great radio voice but i honestly don;t remember a lot of the questions. I do know I called it a blanket once instead of a quilt but I'm okay with that if no one else is.
Lastly, Taffy was interviewed. She's older and very skilled. She was so at ease with the reporter and effortlessly answered all of his questions with such style and grace! Its like she has no nerves. Shannon and I felt like we were idiots and that we just embarrassed ourselves in front of all of Atlanta but I assured her that only old people (and my boyfriend) listen to NPR.

Not much new

I'm sorry I haven't written in a bit but nothing overly exciting has been happening. I'm working on a quilt for myself finally. Its got a lot of turquoise and some greens and bits of everything else. Its to thin my pile of fabrics. I also have to finish it and quilt it, photo it and get my entry form to the Bulloch Hall people by the 31st. Its a good show to try for and since most of my other quilts are long gone...well, I just have to bust ass to get it done!

Also, please go look at Ted's new Etsy site, home of the oven squirrel!

Happy New Year!

So far this year I have eaten like a pig. I will try not to do this and instead I will create like mad! I'm currently working on a quilt for myself. I've made one but its kinda gross and not well done, so I'm making a nice one. Wish me luck and pray that the dogs don't eat it. They're very bad you know. I have until the 31st of January to finish in order to enter it into a contest so wish me luck!
